I would have thought it's the responsibility of Verizon or Eversource to cut the pole higher or otherwise fix this street hazard. Or is it up to the Electrical Department to tell Verizon or Eversource to fix the problem? If a car is damaged, who is responsible?

These are Verizon poles. Please reach out to NYS-NE Engineering Hotline at 866-686-1195 provide them with your name contact phone number and address and issue requiring ENG Assistance. Citizens have been very successful with them.
Thank you for reporting this issue to the City of Cambridge. Unfortunately, the City is not responsible for addressing issues with utility poles. However, we have share this report with the Emergency Communications Dept. to ask them to contact the utility company responsible for this pole.
