Description
The Russell Field parking lot on Rindge has two ChargePoint stations, the only ones I’ve ever seen without a sign stating the parking in those spaces is for electric vehicles only. The purpose of the sign is not only to give preference to those cars, but primarily to inform people who rely on public charges that a charger is available.
When a charger is in use the ChargePoint app shows that the space is not available. If a car that isn’t being charged parks there, someone will go to the parking lot to charge their car and find the space occupied.
I’m sure Cambridge wants to support the use of electric vehicles. The city should not discourage the use by people who cannot afford their own chargers. I have never seen a ticket on any of those cars, possibly because the ChargePoint sign saying "EV charging only" doesn't carry the same, or as visible, information as the attachment.
